If you need to calibrate or perform maintenance on the manifold, you can simply close the block valves and open up the equalizing valve. Close the high-pressure block valve first, open the equalizing valve and then close the low-pressure block valve.In a 5-way valve manifold system, the bleed valve is actually part of the manifold system, rather than attached to it, and there are two equalizing valves. Both the equalizing valves and bleed valves stay closed, and the block valves open during normal operation. During calibration or maintenance, equalizing valves and bleed valves are open and block valves are off.In addition to these, there is a simple 2-way manifold valve that is primarily used for general plant service along with standard and differential pressure instrumentation devices, as well as venting, pressure equalization and block and bleed applications.
